A Multi-Voltage GIS Substation Supporting Arizona’s TenYear Transmission Plan

GIS Substation is a critical infrastructure project supporting a ten-year transmission system plan to strengthen grid reliability and accommodate accelerating load growth throughout a metropolitan area. The project encompasses site redevelopment, land reclamation, grading and drainage, and construction of a high‑capacity Gas‑Insulated Substation (GIS) designed to support system resiliency, operational flexibility, and future expansion. The Wafer GIS Substation includes 500kV, 230kV, and 69kV substation facilities, integrating new high‑voltage transmission. Upon completion, the substation will play a vital role in supporting the regional economic development.
