Constructing a Solar Substation and Transmission Line
Through Louisiana Wetlands
This Solar Substation required the construction of a new 115/34.5kV solar substation and a Gen-Tie 115kV span in Louisiana. Pike’s scope consisted of installing all foundations, conduits, grounding, structures, equipment, relay panels, cabling, and span stringing.
This project also included the installation of a new 115kV, 5.3-mile transmission line that tied into the substation. The transmission line consisted of installing 50 structures, including 11 anchor bolt foundations, with 5.3 miles of 795 ACSR and OPGW, utilizing 9,500 timber mats through the wetlands and swamps.
